AI/ML Engineer

Are you an experienced AI/ML Engineer looking to contribute to the creation of innovative AI solutions? We are building a brand new AI capability to enhance our core products, and we’re seeking an experienced ML Engineer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the foundation of our AI initiatives, where you’ll have the chance to design, develop, and deploy impactful ML models and systems.

As a ML Engineer, you will work closely with the rest of the AI team to bring our AI vision to life. You’ll collaborate with product teams to understand their needs and contribute to building AI solutions that directly improve product performance. This is a hybrid role in our Ljubljana office, or a remote role within the CET +/-1 time zone.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drive the execution of AI Strategy together with the rest of the team and contribute to AI initiatives.
  • Independently design, develop, and deploy ML models and scalable AI solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with product teams to understand their needs and contribute to the development of AI solutions.
  • Proactively monitor and analyze model performance, identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Research and evaluate AI technologies, providing well-reasoned assessments and recommendations.
  • Maintain high standards of technical excellence in AI/ML practices and engineering standards.
  • Actively contribute to team growth through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and potentially mentoring junior colleagues.

What you bring to the team:

  • University degree in Computer Science, ML, AI, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 4+ years of demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and scaling ML models and AI solutions in a production or research environment.
  • Proven experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., GCP) and their AI/ML services with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with product and/or engineering teams and independently drive solutions.
  • Proven experience in proactively monitoring and analyzing the performance of ML models and implementing improvements.
  • Solid understanding of ML algorithms, statistical modelling, and data analysis techniques.
  • Strong proficiency with AI/ML programming languages, frameworks and libraries (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and the ability to utilise them effectively.
  • Understanding of data engineering principles and practical experience with data pipelines and data processing tools.
  • Familiarity with MLOps concepts and tools (e.g., MLFlow), and the ability to apply them in daily work.
  • Good understanding of software engineering principles and best practices, with a focus on writing high-quality code.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to independently identify and resolve issues.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated and a team player.

Bonus points if:

  • You have experience in specific AI domains (e.g., GenAI, computer vision, recommendation systems).
  • You have experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • You have experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • You are familiar with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
  • You can contribute to internal knowledge sharing or technical documentation, demonstrating initiative and independence.
